Priorities

As Mayor of Lake Park, my priorities are shaped by what matters most to our residents: safe neighborhoods, responsible growth, strong local businesses, a future community center for adults and children, and a community we’re all proud to call home. I’m focused on improving public safety, strengthening our infrastructure, expanding economic opportunity, resolving important issues to our residents and protecting the small-town character that makes Lake Park unique. Every decision I make is guided by transparency, accountability, and a commitment to keeping Lake Park moving forward — together.

Accomplishments for Lake Park
Below are accomplishments that were achieved during my tenure as town commissioner and mayor.
Grant funding rewarded to the Town of Lake Park (Rebuild Florida Mitigation General Infrastructure Program)
The Town of Lake Park was awarded approximately $11,067,635 to address critical storm-water and drainage infrastructure needs. The grant is focused on replacing failing drainage pipes, creating detention sites, and implementing green infrastructure solutions in order to reduce flooding, improve water quality, and increase resilience.
Some of the specific projects funded or enabled by this grant include:
-
The “Southern Outfall” priority rehabilitation—a major drainage corridor that was identified as a significant flooding point.
-
Construction of underground storage chambers at the site of Bostrom Park (Lake Park) to help capture and treat storm-water before it enters the lagoon.
-
A pilot “10th Street” green-infrastructure / low-impact development (GI/LID) water-quality drainage project to address runoff and improve storm-water treatment.
-
Town-wide rehabilitation of older (50+ years) storm‐sewer systems, especially in developed areas of the town, combined with green infrastructure such as bioswales, pervious pavement, rain gardens and roadside engineering.
-
Important drainage improvements along the Lakeshore area to address long-standing flooding concerns and protect nearby homes and infrastructure. These upgrades include modernizing pipes and drainage systems, improving water flow, and enhancing stormwater management to reduce overflow during heavy rain events
Grant funding rewarded to the Town of Lake Park (Florida Department of Environmental Protection)
-
The town received $1,000,000 in state grant funding via the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for its septic-to-sewer conversion effort.
-
The project targets the remaining 42 parcels (including the Public Works headquarters) that still use private septic systems, and finishes conversion of the town’s total ~4,374 parcels.
-
Scope includes demolition/removal of existing septic tanks and drain fields; installation of sanitary gravity mains or low pressure force mains; lateral sewer service connections; and restoration of impacted sites.
-
Geographic area: generally west of Old Dixie Highway, south of Water Tower Road to Silver Beach Road.
-
The town has been working to replace septic systems to reduce environmental contamination (especially in the nearby Lake Worth Lagoon watershed) and support redevelopment.
Improving Safety Through Technology
Over the past four years, Lake Park has seen meaningful improvements in public safety thanks to our investment in smart technology. By implementing tools like ShotSpotter gunshot detection, license plate readers, and an expanded network of cameras, we’ve given our police the real-time information they need to respond faster, solve cases more efficiently, and deter crime before it happens.
These systems help us track suspicious activity, quickly locate vehicles involved in crimes, and ensure officers are directed where they’re needed most. The result is a safer, more secure community — and a public-safety approach that is proactive, modern, and designed to protect Lake Park families and neighborhoods.
Upgraded and Expanded Public Access to Town Meetings and Information.
The Town of Lake Park has expanded public access to all town meetings by now streaming them on our official Facebook and YouTube pages—enhancing the transparency already provided through our Town website and Channel 18 community page. We have also invested in upgraded cameras, televisions, and display systems within the Commission Chambers so residents can view meetings more clearly and follow documents and presentations with ease. In addition, a new marquee has been installed in front of Town Hall to provide important information to everyone traveling along Park Avenue. These improvements ensure our community stays better informed, engaged, and connected.
Town events
for community
engagement
We have supported events like the Easter Eggstravaganza, Read for the Record, Fourth of July Fireworks, Veterans Day Car Show, Rust Market, Sunset Celebration, Multicultural Celebration, Back 2 School Extravaganza, Haitian Flag Day Celebration, Pickleball with Mac, Town of Lake Park Tennis Lessons, Jetsetv Soccer Academy, Outaline Dancers, Tai Chi Classes, Holiday Celebration, Holiday Lights Display on Park Avenue, Holiday Decorating Contest, and Tour de Lake Park creating memorable moments that bring us together.
Expansion of
the CRA
-
The Town has expanded the boundaries of its existing CRA. A “Finding of Necessity” report prepared in 2022 outlines roughly 67 acres of “study area” for inclusion, specifically two zones:
-
A ~26 acre area around 10th Court (commercial with some residential)
-
A ~41 acre area around Silver Beach Road (residential public-space character) which includes the Bert Bostrom Park.
-
-
The expansion is driven by the fact that while much of the town has rebounded, these areas show signs of economic and physical stress (e.g., under-utilized lots, aging infrastructure) and would benefit from the tools available via CRA designation.
-
The expansion would allow those additional areas to access the CRA’s redevelopment trust fund, incentives, and other public-private investment mechanisms.
